EMPLOYEE #1 WAS IN A TRENCH, APPROXIMATELY 7 FEET DEEP, WHEN APPROXIMATELY 2 FEE T OF TRENCH WALL AND SPOILS PILE COLLAPSED. HE WAS BURIED AND KILLED. THE SOIL W AS COMPOSED OF HARD CLAY. A PREVIOUS EXCAVATION IN THE AREA OF COLLAPSE MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE COLLASPE.
