Employee Is Killed When Struck In Head By Truck Wheel

Investigation abstract

At 2:00 p.m. on August 17, 2022, an employee was reseating and reinflating a truck tire while working at a tire distributor. When the employee attempted to seat the tire on a single piece truck wheel, the tire would not seat properly. While the employee was using a small sledgehammer to bang on the wheel to seat the tire properly around the wheel, the wheel suddenly was ejected from the tire and struck the employee in the head. The employee was killed by blunt force trauma injuries to the head.
