Employee is killed when struck by tree
Investigation abstract
At 3:30 p.m. on May 18, 2023, an employee had notched a standing tree and was making the back cut. The crew was clearing storm damage from power lines, so lines could be put back up and re-energized. The tree kicked out and struck the employee before he had completed the back cut. The employee was killed by the large oak tree, approximately 74.5 feet tall with a 47-inch diameter at the point where the back cut was being made.
