An employee was removing a printing press gear that was located in front of a gear that runs an ink roller. While performing this task, employees do not de-energize the ink roller gear because the ink will dry up. The employee's finger got caught between the gear being removed and the ink roller gear. The employee's left index finger was amputated, and two other fingers were injured.
