An employee was moving the wooden shipping base of a completed air conditioner unit to allow space for a cardboard box cover to clear the back edge of the base. As he was pulling on the base, his right ring finger was crushed between the bottom of the base and the side frame of the roller conveyor. The employee instinctively pulled his hand away, amputating the tip of his finger.
