At about 7:30 p.m. on April 22, 2022, two employees were trying to start a compressor. The compressor started after several attempts, but then continued to speed up. Its flywheel came apart and launched shrapnel, some of which struck one of the employees. He suffered lacerations and broken bones in both hands, the right shoulder, and the left thigh. He was hospitalized.

Abcar, Inc

At 4:00 p.m. on July 3, 2023, a severe thunderstorm passed over a job site. An employee was taking shelter under a carport where batteries were stored. The carport was destroyed; flying objects struck the employee, who suffered a jaw injury and a knee injury.

An employee was struck in the head by a hockey puck while exiting the locker room. The employee sustained a laceration above their left eye.

American Crystal Sugar Company

An employee was clearing a clogged sugar chute, containing rare earth magnets inset into an aluminum bar to catch any metal in the sugar. The employee loosened the middle of three magnets and it was attracted to the outside magnet, crushing the tip of his right middle finger. The fingertip was amputated.

Nazareth Pallet Co., Inc.

An employee was working in the pallet repair line when a pneumatic nail gun shot a nail into their right wrist. The employee was hospitalized and required surgery to remove the nail.

Treeland Nursery

An employee was emptying a plastic bucket of soils around a newly planted tree using a hay hook to assist. The hay hook suddenly broke free of the plastic bucket and struck the employee in the right eye, resulting in blunt-force trauma injuries to their eye.

Texas Eastern Transmission, LP

An employee was unloading 10-foot sections of 6- to 8-inch pipe when their right ring finger was pinched between the pipe and pipe rack edge, resulting in a fingertip amputation at the first knuckle.

National Fuel Gas

An employee was at a residential home to perform a gas houseline inspection after repairs. While using a flashlight to see, the employee walked into the laundry room and fell into a 2' x 2' access opening for a crawl space in the floor. A black rug was partially covering the opening. The employee fell approximately 40 inches into the crawl space. The employee sustained three fractured ribs on the left side, fluid on the left side of the lungs, and a bruised right knee.

Kinder Morgan

Three employees were changing out a belt on a residual cooling fan when the injured employee's middle finger got caught between the belt and pulley. The employee sustained a fingertip amputation.

Suburban Natural Gas Company

On November 11, 2024, an employee was offloading polyethylene pipe from a truck. The pipe was being moved along free-spinning rollers. The employee's pants got caught on a roller causing them to trip and fall onto a pipe. The employee sustained a puncture wound to their leg requiring hospitalization.

Meritum Energy

An employee was working on a compressed natural gas trailer gauge when a pressure release struck the employee's chest and forced the employee into a cement post. The employee's back was fractured.

After cutting a slab of beef short ribs, an employee turned to grab the pieces he had cut and his right hand contacted the saw blade. The employee sustained an amputation to his right index finger.
