Final narrative
An employee was using a pushing shear machine mower. As he was pulling the mower out of a bed of plants, he encountered a parked trailer behind him and fell backward. His left foot contacted the mower blade, which lacerated his foot and broke the little toe in three places.
An employee was riding in a nursery vehicle with another employee driving. The vehicle went off the road and struck a wooden utility pole. The employee suffered a broken left femur, damage to the left elbow, and chipped front teeth. He was hospitalized, requiring surgery.
