A temporary employee was performing work in the general assembly area. The employee was using a 2-ton hoist to lift a vehicle battery from a storage crate onto a transfer cart carrier. While lowering the battery onto the carrier, the employee's left ring finger was pinched between the battery and the carrier, resulting in a fingertip amputation.
