An employee was hospitalized after suffering an insect bite while trimming shrubs that resulted in swelling of their lower extremities.

An employee was using a walk-behind mower equipped with a velkie to mow a parking lot island. He stopped the mower to wait for someone to park. He was then attempting to move away from the mower when the machine started to spin, striking and throwing him to the ground. He was hospitalized with a fractured right femur and right ankle.

He was helping place and level the blacktop/backfill material over the trench area to bring the road surface back to proper grade.
