Before the incident

A maintenance employee was preparing to use a pneumatic drill with a long rod and brush attached to it to clean the inside of an extruder barrel The employee placed his hand on the rod to align the rod inside the barrel then activated the drill to push it through the barrel opening The rotating rod caught his glove causing his glove to wrap around the rod This resulted in a fracture and laceration to the left ring finger
