What happened

S- Assocaite reported they cut themself on a piece of expanded metal guarding. O- While walking near the default dump to gather expelled inserts the associate passed by a piece of damaged expanded metal. The metal caught his forearm causing two lacerationsone approximately 3 inches in length and the other about 1 inch in length. A- The associate received first aid including wrapping the wound and applying compression. Subsequently the associate was taken to the emergency room for further treatment. Maintenance shut down the default dump removed the expanded metal guard took it to the maintenance shop for repairs and then replaced the guard. P- The management team as well as Shift Safety Housekeeping Committees will audit guarding specifically focusing on areas where expanded metal is used to check for damage nicks and burrs.
