What happened

I was driving back to the hospice office in the [REDACTED] and the accident happened when I was rear ended while merging into traffic from [REDACTED] onto [REDACTED] just south of the [REDACTED]. I had started to pull out into a gap in the traffic when a car switched lanes into the gap I was going to take. I had to brake suddenly to wait for another gap in the traffic and the car behind me rear ended me. I struck my face on the steering wheel and cut my eyebrow and it took about 5 or 10 minutes for the bleeding to stop. The other driver and I exchanged information and she explained that she had no insurance. I took a couple of photos to document the damage and called the police non0emergency line to report the accident. The officer I spoke to instructed us to exchange ID and insurance information but since the cars were drivable and the injury was not serious no police came to the scene or filed a report.
