Before the incident

The associate was working on the plant grounds trimming hedges and bushes with an electric saw around the transformer area.

What happened

He got on his knees to lay the saw down to get a lower cut towards the bottom of the branch. After finishing the cut he went to remove the saw from the branch then placed his left index finger unknowingly over the material discharge chute. The associate was wearing gloves the glove was snagged by the chain that pulled his finger into contact with the chain this caused a minor cut to the finger enough to break the nail.
