Before the incident
[REDACTED] stopped to converse with a coworker while standing at the outfeed of the wood-eye chop line conveyor. As he stood there talking one of the sticks exited the conveyor and struck him on his left cheek.
What happened
In stopping to talk to his co-worker [REDACTED] had placed himself in the line of fire when a stick came off the wood-eye feeder chains and slid across the chop line conveyor. Not paying attention to surroundings at all.
