What happened

Employee was working at the final expander station checking the rim bands as they passed through to the valve stem area. The steel rim bands travel on a metal chute and then get raised up by an air cylinder (has a plate attached at the top) to roll into the valve stem station. The air cylinder was stuck in the upward position and would not come back down to cycle the next part. The employee stuck her hand under the plate of the air cylinder to clean a sensor which she though might be causing the equipment issue. Since the equipment was still in automatic mode the sensor triggered the air cylinder to come down. The employee 's left hand got pinched between the bottom of the plate and the inside of the metal chute. After this happened the supervisor and maintenance team was alerted of the emergency and the maintenance disconnected the air line which released the pressure from the cylinder so we could remove her hand. She was then taken to urgent care to be diagnosed.
