The employee 's written description is as follows. Gave pt a [REDACTED] injection. Forgot to put on the safety shield after the injection and poked my left hand thumb with the needle as I was putting injection in the sharps container. Left thumb started bleeding so I went to the sink and washed my finger and then put a band aid on. I was talking and rushing around as it was a busy day.
