Before the incident

Employee was moving two pieces of 8x3x1 2 structural tubes off of the blaster rolls onto the forks of the forklift.

What happened

The two tubes were being lifted in a flat orientation with the 3 short sides of the tubes up against each other. One of the two pieces of tubing rolled up on its 8 side. The injured employee made an effort to support the two pieces together as the tubing was being moved by the overhead crane to the forklift forks. In the process of moving the tubing the employee 's left-hand 3rd and 4th fingers were caught in between the tubing.
