What happened

When drawing the patient blood I used a 25 gauge and a syringe the needle came out of the patients had so I dropped the syringe so that I could put gauze and pressure on the patient puncture site. Once done I went to pick up the needle up and stuck the palm of my hand before locking the safety on the needle.
