Before the incident

The injured employee sustained a dog bite to the right leg while performing delivery duties At the time of the injury the employee had parked the delivery vehicle and was preparing to deliver a package to the customers residence The employee approached the front gate of the property on foot and was in the process of opening and closing the gate when the customers dog ran up from behind and bit the employee on the right leg The employee was not using any tools or equipment at the moment of the injury other than standard delivery items including the delivery package and personal protective footwear No warning signs indicating the presence of a dog were visible at the delivery location
