Before the incident

EE was diagnosing troubleshooting a problem on 11 machine along with a coworker There was a miscommunication between the two and the coworker activated the apron (still attempting to troubleshoot) but failed to say anything to the EE This caused the apron to move forward unexpectedly with the EEs hand too close to the apron material there was a sharp spoke from the seam (where the two pieces of apron meet) this resulted in a laceration to the EE left hand just below the thumb The initial reaction was to seek first aid level care from in house sources but later it was decided that a trip to the ER was a better option
