Preparing the patient 's medications with my preceptor in my patient 's room.

What happened

squeezed a fatty piece of the patient 's lower left abdomen and I injected the needle in the patient 's skin. I felt a sharp feeling on my left thumb as I was giving the patient their injection. I was not sure if the needle went through the patient 's skin and pricked my finger or if I was feeling the sharpness of my fingernail as I was squeezing the patient 's skin. There was no hole in my glove and my thumb did not have a poke or blood on it.
