Before the incident

EE was called to reman for a plugged putty hose.

What happened

Employee was building a new hose utilizing a hose crimping machine. When EE was changing the dies he needed the jaws open further. EE was reaching across and was pushing the retract button. EE foot made contact with the floor pedal which activated the machine cycle. The die caught his left hand and smashed his ring finger between the die and the machine framework.
