Before the incident

I was lifting and holding the patient 's leg up at a 45 degree angle in order to perform a surgical skin prep.

What happened

The patient 's knee buckled which pulled my shoulder and caused my arm to rotate externally while I was holding on to the patient 's leg and attempting to prevent it from falling.
