What happened

I was suturing an ankle ORIF closed. On my last throw I pushed the prolene CT2 needle through the patient 's skin with a little force since it was thicker skin to end the suture. As I pulled the needle up out of the skin it ended up jabbing into my left thumb which was nearby holding the skin down with forceps so I could see the sub Q layer. My left gloves were then removed and the OR nurse poured alcohol and betadine over the puncture site.
