What happened

While pulling back the scalp to get to the surgical site the surgeon was exposed by the patient via a neuromonitoring needle in the scalp. The needle had to be pulled through the patient in order to be removed therefore the patient was exposed by the surgeon. The needle was removed and contained the surgical site was irrigated with CHG and the surgeon cleaned themself appropriately.
