Before the incident

Went into decontam to wash the 2nd cataract case. When removing instruments from soiled basin to the soaking basin there was a needle in with the other instruments and when I reached in to grab the instruments in stuck me on the palm side of my right ring finger. I immediately pulled the needle out and took off both sets of gloves and saw that it had punctured my skin. I washed my hands thoroughly with soap and water and went out to the OR desk to talk with the OR charge nurse about my next steps.
