Pulling cheese from a steamer

What happened

I put on oven mitts to pull cheese out of the steamer. When I opened the steamer some steam went inside the oven mitt from the opening and burned my forearm. There were three witnesses. Immediately following this the burn has blistered and achesthrobs.
