Opening a plastic Amazon package

What happened

I was going to open a plastic Amazon package using a boxcutter. With the boxcutter in my right hand and the package in my left hand I sliced open the package. My left hand apparently was in the way as I accidentally cut it also with the boxcutter. I didn 't realize it at first but felt a slight discomfort. I placed the items from package on the desk next to me then looked at my hand. I told [REDACTED] whom was in the room further down that I thought I cut my hand. Upon further looking blood pooled from my hand and I saw a cut on my anterior left hand below my 5th digit. I could see hand tissue and determined the cut was more than a papercut. I said I was going to the medicine cabinet (first floor) to clean it and cover it. I arrived at the medicine cabinet and began looking for wound cleaner and gauze supplies.
