Before the incident

The crew (injured employee and 3 co-workers were getting in to position to push & slide the scanner machine across the deck plate.

What happened

The crew began pushing & sliding the scanner machine. It slid much easier across the deck plate than they had expected. As the scanner moved the foot dropped about 2 inches off the edge of the deck plate on to the floor grating. The tip of the employee 's Rt. index finger was caught between the scanner foot & the floor grating.
