Investigating issue with a hot water hose

What happened

IP was called to investigate an issue with a hot water hose. IP noted steam was ~3 4 full with little water. IP shut off steam opened water full. IP went to release steam pressure in hose resulting in steam engulfing hand. IP was wearing mechanics gloves not heat resistant gloves. [REDACTED] dept. provided on-site first aid (cleaned area applied burn gel wrapped hand). [REDACTED] Manager and [REDACTED] Specialist took IP to local treatment center as hand was blistering and IP was in significant pain.
