What happened

Per our unit protocol I was using the pt 's glucometer to perform a FSBS. I was wearing gloves when performing this task. I reached into the compartment of the pt 's case to get a lancet and apparently one was open inside the compartment and it punctured my glove puncturing the lateral side of my right index finger.
