Before the incident

Crawling out of boiler 3 manway cover

What happened

I was crawling out of the burner hole on boiler 3 in the power plant. After performing a pre-inspection on the fire box. As I was crawling out of the firebox of boiler 3 to get out. A co-worker held his hand out verbally suggesting to take his hand he would help me crawl out. As I leaned my weight onto my co-worker and proceeded to reach my foot out of the boiler and onto the metal grate platform 3 foot below. My co-workers arm that he extended to help support my weight as I lowered my self down went limp and the co-worker moved. At this time I had completely trusted and invested my body weight into his support. Once he let go and moved I fell instantly down onto the metal grate landed on right knee without the ability to stop falling or regain my footing.
