Before the incident

Employee was in the process of pressing a component onto the sleeve of a jersey. Upon completion they moved the heat press head to staging location with left hand however moved their right hand into the press pad & their right thumb came into contact with the press head.

What happened

On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] athlete was pressing on press station 10. Athlete was in the process of pressing a component on the sleeve of a jersey and when they went to move the press to the other side with their left hand to peel the component they lifted their right hand before the press was fully on the other side and hit the area below their right thumb on their right hand on the bottom of the heat press causing a slight burn slightly red in color on the outside and on the inside white in color. Athlete made contact with the press for about 1 second and immediately pulled their right hand away. Athlete notified the lead and went to the first aid station and self-treated with triple antibiotic ointment and went to their last break. When they came back from break athlete notified supervisor and wiped off the ointment that they put on and applied burn gel instead. Burn size is approximately the size of a quarter.
