Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that:
a) Stadium seats forms area: On 8/23/85, employees were exposed to the
hazard of electrocution when working next to a concrete mix dump
bucket suspended by the Drott "Travelift" straddle crane, serial
#3134, when the crane approached to within 10 feet of an 8,000 volt
(to ground) overhead power line.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard would be to raise all overhead power conductors so as to maintain
a minimum verticle clearance of 10 feet from all mobile equipment that
may be operated in their vicinity.
