General-duty citation text

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of falling debris as a result of the trusses
being set were not being
braced in accordance with the requirements of the Truss Plate Institute.
At the jobsite at 2215 Marquette St. Peru, IL employees were engaged in
the setting of
trusses on this building under construction. The trusses were not being
braced in
accordance wit the recommendations specified in the Truss Plate Institute
HIB-91
Summary Sheet which states that three sets of horizontal bracing be used
as well as
diagonal bracing to stabilize the trusses while they are being set. In
this instance only two
sets of horizontal bracing were being used and the diagonal bracing was
not installed until
all trusses had been set.
