Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by the load of the underhung hoist: (a) Near Shop; the 6 ton underhung hoist; The directional markings were absent from the pendant control. (b) Weld Shop; middle of Far Bay; The directional markings were worn off the pendant control. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to replace the directional markings on the pendant controls according to ANSI B30.11-1973.
