Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Fabrication Shop - the Gairo Iron Worker machine had an unguarded foot pedal on the punch end, therby causing the hazard of unintended operation due to a falling or moving object or by accidental stepping on the pedal, 8/7/85. A recognized and feasible abatement method is to provide fixed protective covers over foot operating pedals.
