Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
The hazard of electrocution, which was created by the operation of a
tilt frame hydraulic hoist in close proximity to high voltage lines
energized at 34/19.9KV.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is not to operate equipment wihtin 10 feet of high
voltage lines rated at 50 KV and below.
a) Between Ferro Corporation Building and Lagoon - Employee operated a
hydraulic tilt frame hoist in close proximity of high voltage lines
which were energized at 34/19.9KV.
