Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
(a) Employees working between steel coils up to 50,000 lbs. at the
exit pit of No. 1 CRL in east processing were exposed to the hazard of
crushing due to the displacement of coils by coil tractors which were
driven up to these coils. Among other methods, one feasible and
acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train and re-
quire employees operating coil tractors to stop the coil tractors well
back and away from the coils.
