Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious harm to employees. Employees were exposed to the hazards to falls while riding up/down in a scissor lift at the Lombard job site. 10-40 feet above grade - Employees using a scissor lift at the Lombard jobsite were exposed to fall hazards. The end and sides of the lift used to access/egress the lift did not have fall protection, the guardrail system was not utilized. A feasible means of abatement would be to provide fall protection in accordance with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI A92.6-1979 Standard for Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms. DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.

29 CFR Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a workplace of employment which was free of recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Employees working above grade level in a six level building were not provided stairs to access/egress the building in case of emergency. A feasible means of abatement would be to provide stairs in accordance with the National Fire Code, NBC 241, 5-4.8 Standard for Safe Guarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations. DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.
