Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees
in that employees
were exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a)Cancer or infertility when work with cytotoxic drugs and the program is
not a
complete one.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is:
1.Include in the written program information about the safety
cabinet (the off/on procedures, the normal filter pressure and the
one when is time to change it, determine and stamp the smoke
split point).
2.Information and training provisions (how to inform the maintenance
personnel of the possible contamination from the drug patients, topics
to be covered during the employees trainings).
a)Cancer o infertilidad cuando se trabaja con drogas citotoxicas y no
tienen un
programa completo.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo razonable y aceptable de corregir este
riesgo
es:
1.Incluir en el programa escrito informacion sobre el extractor de
seguridad (los procedimientos de encendido/apagado, la caida en
presion del filtro normalmente y la que indicaria que es
necesario cambiarlo, determinar y marcar el punto de
bifurcation)
2.Las provisiones de informacion y adiestramiento (como se va a
informar al personal de limpieza del posible riesgo de contaminacion
con pacientes que se les esten aplicando estas drogas, que topicos
deben ser discutidos en el adiestramiento a los empleados)."to
