North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to: (a) facility; plate shop - underhung cranes have not been load tested. REFERENCE: Monorails and Underhung Cranes ASME B30.11-1998; 11- 2.2.2 Load Test (a) New, reinstalled, altered, repaired and modified equipment should be load tested.... NOTE: One feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to have the underhung cranes load tested.

REFERENCE: Monorails and Underhung Cranes ASME B30.11-1998; 11- 2.1.1 (a) Prior to initial use, all new, reinstalled, altered, or modified crane and monorail systems shall be inspected...(b) on a periodic basis. NOTE: One acceptable and feasible means of abatement is to have the crane systems inspected.
