recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 26 feet:
(a)Big O Tires, Denver RSC at 5025 Florence, Unit A, Denver, CO 80238:
On April 2, 2003 employees were exposed to falls of approximately 26 feet
when retrieving tires in that the employees used the Yale Picker #55 and
Raymond Picker #7 without the use of a restraining device to prevent
falling
from the platform.
(a)Big O Tires, Denver RSC at 5025 Florence, Unit A, Denver, CO 80238:
On April 2, 2003 employees were exposed to falls of approximately 26 feet
when retrieving tires in that employees climbed up pallets exposing
themselves
to the fall.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
is to:
(a)Provide restraining means such as rails, chains, or a body belt with
lanyard or
deceleration device to be worn by the operator when using the "picker".
(b)Utilize a forklift or order picker when appropriate as well as to
ensure that an
adequate number of portable stairs are available and used, and that
employees
are trained to never climb on pallets.
