Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards while attempting to manually raise a balloon wall that was not adequately secured to the deck. 1323 Tower Hill Drive Jobsite - On or about February 4, 2005, employees were attempting to raise a balloon wall that was not adequately secured to the deck. Feasible means of abatement include, but are not limited to the following: Secure the wall to the deck with adequate sized metal bands located at each end of the wall and spaced not more than 6 feet in-between.
