P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of
1970: The employer
did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to the hazard of being thrown out of the basket of
a telescoping boom
lift:
A) East side of building - Two employees were working from the basket of a
Bil-Jax telescoping
boom lift without using personal fall protection, on or about February 25,
2009.
One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to
have employees don
a safety harness before entering the basket and attach the lanyard to the
appropriate device in
the basket.
