General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to fall hazards. The employer is failing to protect employees from potential struck by hazards associated with using overhead cranes equipped with hooks that are missing the safety latches. The most recent example of this was found at the facility located at 3902 Leavenworth St. Omaha, NE 68105 when the employer had employees using the 1 ton overhead crane to lift injection molds weighing up to 1000 lbs without ensuring that the hook had an effective safety latch in place. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
