Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and
crush-by hazards:
a)Mazda Bay Area Lift #19: On or about 10/29/2010, employees were exposed
to
struck-by and crush-by hazards while working near and under automobile
lifts
which have not been inspected periodically.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to
follow the lift
manufacturers and ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2000 recommendation regarding periodic
inspection
procedures for the automobile lift.
NOTE:  DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED
FOR THIS VIOLATION.
