Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): Duties of employers. Every employer shall furnish employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his or her employees: Employees of American High-rise working on the curtain wall located on the east side of the East Tower at Veer Towers were exposed to fall hazards while using ladders in a manner other than prescribed by the manufacture and industry recognized consensus standards. Reference: American National Standard for Ladders - Portable Ladders - Portable Reinforced Plastic - Safety Requirements [American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A14.5-2000] 9.3.1.2 Self-supporting ladders shall not be used as single ladders or in the partially closed position. 9.3.2 Climbing and Working Locations. The user shall climb or work with the body near the middle of the step of the rung. The user shall not step or stand higher than the step or rung indicated on the label marking the highest standing level of a ladder. The user shall not step or stand on: (1) A ladder top cap and the top step of a step or trestle ladder, or the bucket or pail shelf on a self-supporting ladder. One feasible means of abatement would be to utilize an alternate method to reach the area where work was being conducted.
