The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards.    Jobsite:    Employees exposed to fall hazards have not received adequate fall protection training.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(4)(i):     Each employee on walking/working surfaces shall be protected from falling through holes (including skylights) more than 6 feet (1.8 m) above lower levels, by personal fall arrest systems, covers, or guardrail systems erected around such holes.    Jobsite:    An employee fell through an unguarded first floor opening and was injured.    MOTA CONSTRUCTION WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS STANDARD ( INSPECTION # 313205486 ).  THE CITATION HAD A FINAL ORDER DATE OF SEPTEMBER 3, 2010.

Note: This provision does not apply to cast iron manhole covers or steel grates used on streets or roadways.    Jobsite:    The cover used to guard the garage floor opening was not marked to provided a warning of the fall hazard.
