29 CFR 1910.36(g)(4):     Objects that project into the exit route must not reduce the width of the exit route to less than the minimum width requirements for exit routes.    On or about 9 July 2012, and at times prior thereto, the back walkway within the mechanical room was obstructed with objects projecting into the egress route, reducing the width to less than 28 inches, thus exposing employees to slips, trips, and fall hazards during periods of emergencies.    Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure walkways and exit routes are at least 28 inches in width.

29 CFR 1910.37(b)(2):     Each exit must be clearly visible and marked by a sign reading "Exit."    On or about 9 July 2012, and at times prior thereto, the employer did not ensure that exits were clearly marked by "Exit" signs.  The two doors leading out of the Laundry Room did not have any identifying signs as to their being "Exits", exposing employees to fire hazards, such as burns, smoke inhalation, and asphyxiation.    Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure all exits are clearly visible and marked by a sign reading "Exit".    Longhorn Village was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA Inspection# 315627752, Citation# 01, Item# 001 and was affirmed as a final order on 10/24/2011, with respect to a workplace located at 12501 Longhorn Parkway, Austin, TX 78732.
